Focus

Sriwijaya Journal of Internal Medicine is a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal dedicated to advancing the practice and science of internal medicine and its related subspecialties. The journal's primary aim is to disseminate high-quality, impactful research that enhances the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of complex adult diseases, with a focus on clinical applications and translational medicine.

Scope

The scope of the journal is comprehensive, welcoming the submission of original research, comprehensive reviews, and clinical studies. Based on its published content, the journal has a demonstrated focus on the following key areas:

Metabolic and Endocrine Disorders: In-depth investigation of chronic metabolic diseases, particularly Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) and Gestational Diabetes Mellitus (GDM). This includes longitudinal studies on the predictive value of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and the impact of glycemic control on systemic complications and treatment outcomes, such as chronic rhinosinusitis and periodontal disease.

Cardiovascular and Renal Medicine: Clinical research on cardiovascular risk stratification, including the comparative analysis of predictive models (e.g., Framingham Risk Score, ACC/AHA Pooled Cohort Equations) in high-risk patient populations. The journal also covers key topics in nephrology, such as the identification of risk factors (e.g., contrast volume, serum creatinine) for contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) following coronary intervention procedures.

Infectious Diseases and Hematology: Observational and epidemiological studies on the etiology of common infections, such as the overview of microorganisms causing urinary tract infections (UTIs). It also includes research on the pathophysiology of tropical and viral diseases, such as the dynamics of NS1 antigen and platelet levels in the acute phase of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF).

Gastroenterology: Systematic reviews and clinical papers on the diagnosis, pathophysiology, and management of functional and motility disorders, including primary (e.g., normal transit, slow transit, pelvic floor dysfunction) and secondary constipation.

Regenerative and Biologic Medicine: Comprehensive reviews on advanced therapeutic modalities and new biological agents. This includes the mechanisms, preparation, and clinical application of therapies such as Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Activated Growth Factor (AGF) for treating degenerative and traumatic conditions in fields like orthopedics and dermatology.

Methodology: The journal publishes a variety of study designs, including prospective cohort studies, longitudinal studies, cross-sectional analytic studies, descriptive observational studies, and comprehensive  reviews.
