Scope

The scope of Sriwijaya Journal of Otorhinolaryngology  is comprehensive, encompassing all subspecialties within the field. The journal demonstrates a strong commitment to publishing high-quality clinical and translational research, with a particular emphasis on the following areas:

Otology and Neuro-otology: The journal welcomes investigations into the full spectrum of otologic disorders, including the pathogenesis and outcomes of otitis media, the epidemiology and risk factors for hearing impairment, and the medical management of neuro-otological conditions like Meniere's Syndrome.

Translational and Regenerative Medicine: Sriwijaya Journal of Otorhinolaryngology  shows a distinct interest in cutting-edge translational science. This includes studies on the role of the middle ear microbiome in disease and preclinical research on novel therapeutic modalities, such as the application of mesenchymal stem cells for tissue regeneration in ear injuries.

Rhinology and Allergy: The scope covers infectious and inflammatory conditions of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses. This includes comparative effectiveness research on antibiotic therapies for acute sinusitis and studies on the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis.

Head and Neck Oncology: The journal publishes significant research in head and neck surgery, with a focus on molecular oncology. This includes the identification and validation of molecular biomarkers (e.g., in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma) to predict treatment response and survival outcomes.

Laryngology and Pediatric ORL: Sriwijaya Journal of Otorhinolaryngology  covers disorders of the pharynx, larynx, and pediatric airway. This includes research on voice disorders and the analysis of surgical outcomes for common pediatric procedures like tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy.

Clinical Methodology and Validation: A unique focus of the journal is the development, validation, and cultural adaptation of novel clinical scoring systems and diagnostic tools. This includes prognostic models for otitis media (IOMSS), post-operative tonsillectomy outcomes (INDO-TOS), voice disability (I-VHI-JS), and primary care diagnostics for allergic rhinitis.
