Peer Review Process

Sriwijaya Journal of Radiology and Imaging Research (SJRIR) ยท Published by Phlox Institute

SJRIR is committed to a rigorous, fair, and timely evaluation of every submission. All manuscripts undergo double-anonymised peer review, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are mutually concealed. The process is conducted in accordance with the journal's Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement and the standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Editorial decisions are based solely on scientific merit, methodological rigour, ethical compliance, and suitability to the scope of the journal, and are independent of any commercial consideration or the authors' ability to pay.

1. Desk Evaluation (within 3 working days)

Upon receipt, each manuscript is assessed by the editorial office and the handling editor. This initial screening verifies the originality of the work using the ORCA plagiarism check and evaluates the manuscript's conformity with the aims and scope of the journal, as well as its compliance with the Author Guidelines and ethical requirements. A decision at this stage is reached within three (3) working days. Manuscripts that show unacceptable levels of similarity, fall outside the journal's scope, or do not meet the basic submission and ethical requirements are returned to the authors or rejected at this point, without external review.

2. Peer Review (2โ€“3 weeks)

Manuscripts that pass desk evaluation are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers for double-anonymised review. Reviewers assess the scientific validity, originality, methodological soundness, clarity, and clinical or scientific significance of the work, and provide constructive, evidence-based recommendations. The peer-review stage is normally completed within two to three (2โ€“3) weeks. On the basis of the reviewers' reports, the handling editor formulates a recommendation, and the Editor-in-Chief reaches one of the following decisions: accept, minor revision, major revision, or reject. Where revisions are requested, revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for re-evaluation.

3. Acceptance to Publication (within 1 week)

Once a manuscript is formally accepted, it proceeds to copyediting, layout, proofreading, and assignment of a Digital Object Identifier (DOI). The accepted article is published online within one (1) week of the acceptance decision, subject to completion of the Article Processing Charge in accordance with the journal's APC policy. The corresponding author will receive proofs for final approval prior to publication.
